About Yuhan
Yuhan was born and raised in Jinhua, China, a small city famous for its smoked ham. She came to the US for school and has since lived in Virginia, Georgia, Delaware, Maryland, and now Illinois. She attended Johns Hopkins University to pursue degrees in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Public Health Studies.

Her interest in research started while working in the Schulman Lab at Hopkins, where she designed and built dynamic, programmable DNA nanostructures. This experience further sparked her interest in the intersection of engineering and health – applying engineering skills to study diseases and design therapeutics. She later explored this further in the Sheng Lab at the RNA Institute, where she studied neurodegenerative diseases and small molecule drug discovery. Yuhan is now co-advised by Professors Esser-Kahn and Ferguson, and she’s studying diseases and therapeutics through the computational lens, specifically focusing on dermatological conditions.

Outside of lab, she loves traveling, going to concerts, and baking (especially all kinds of breads)!
